General Handyman / woman

10 to 20 hours per week, worked over 2-3 days. Would suit person with comprehensive DIY experience who just wants part time work in a friendly valued environment.

Duties Include:

• Fixing any safety hazards reporting any concerns to the Home Manager. To comply with all statutory requirements and legislation i.e. Health & Safety, COSHH, Moving and Handling, Fire Safety, Environmental Health etc


• Completing tasks identified by the care team in a timely manner


• Keep an electronic record of daily work and contact with residents


• Monitoring and adjusting the room temperatures as advised


• Putting together furniture and other equipment, including profiling beds and mattresses


• Doing minor plumbing and carpentry


• Test fire alarms every week, completing necessary checks and paperwork.


• Liaising with contractors and other workers


• Basic Decorating


• Light gardening


• Clearing common areas including assisting with heavier cleaning tasks i.e. carpet cleaning


• Cleaning and checking in good working order at least weekly; The dishwasher, The vacuum cleaners, The carpet shampooer


• Assist the Manager to complete all daily, weekly and monthly health and safety, fire and maintenance audits when required


• Assist with deliveries and moving of goods and equipment


• Attend staff meetings as required


• Be aware of and comply with all of the home's policies and procedures


• Attend all mandatory and required training/update sessions as stipulate


• A willingness to work and meet the needs of the home particularly at the time of any emergency
