Full Job Description

The role is primarily helping to ensure that the grounds and gardens within the village as a whole are kept immaculate and pristine - no matter what season it may be. We mow the lawns of our privately-owned bungalows for them, but there are also communal areas that need to be kept on top of, flowers and other visual elements of the site to be tended, as well as the substantial care home gardens and surrounding areas. There will be other, numerous functions to perform from time to time, but these will all be covered in depth and in advance of any work commencing, and in full consultation with staff.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensuring all outdoor spaces and areas are kept clean, tidy, and to the required standards;

  • Ability to resolve problems quickly and efficiently, and adhere to health and safety guidelines;

  • Liaising with other professionals, such as landscape gardeners or outside contractors in whatever is required to maintain the overall beauty of the site;

  • Ensuring that all equipment and potential health and safety issues are monitored and kept in check through regular site inspections and taking necessary and appropriate action.

    A preference for working outdoors in most, if not all weathers;

  • Ability to use garden machinery and tools to a skilled level;

  • Passionate about making a difference in the life of those we look after;

  • Dedicated to providing excellent customer service;

  • Ability to work independently, but know when to seek guidance or external input;

  • To be willing to undertake required training, sometimes outside normal working hours;

  • At least two years' experience of being in a gardener / grounds person type role previously., Current location is within a 15 mile radius of the care home

  • Gardening: 2 years (required)
