Full Job Description

Everyone loves the Bath BID ranger team. They are at the heart of the services we provide to businesses in the city centre, helping to keep the city fresh and welcoming to visitors. They mostly work outdoors using our fleet of electric vehicles. The team operates seven days per week, they provide planned and responsive cleaning and light maintenance work across the Business Improvement District (within the city centre boundary).

The range of tasks the Rangers carry out on a regular basis includes algae removal, jet washing, deep cleaning, general maintenance, watering plants, graffiti removal, waste removal, anti-social mess removal, signage and canopy cleans and the Rangers put up gazebos and promotional banners in the streets. The team also monitors trade waste collections and helps to keep Bath free of rubbish.

They work closely with business owners, landlords, the Council, other authorities and festival organisers and are unsung heroes in keeping the city running smoothly.

Full uniform and essential training is provided. The job is based in Bath City Centre.

Tasks:

1. Responsive cleans and jet washing, as well as occasional deep cleans to improve the appearance of the city centre.

2. Providing a light maintenance service to the Bath BID businesses,

3. Answering questions, being friendly and helpful and knowledgeable about the BID and the businesses in the city centre.

4. Helping the marketing team to promote the city by sharing information, delivering promotional materials or helping out with events

5. Building relationships with the businesses and reflecting a professional and responsive image. This will include shops and businesses, street traders, council staff, the police, security guards, shopping centre staff, buskers, entertainers and visitors.

6. Reporting and information sharing with team members to ensure that BID activities are measured and goals achieved.

· Experience of working safely with tools and cleaning equipment

· Clean Driving licence

· Ability to use a smartphone and radio

· Aware of health and safety and vigilant to criminal activity.

· Excellent communication skills when interacting with the rest of the team, local businesses and the public.

· Enthusiasm for working outdoors in all weathers

· Knowledge of Bath would be helpful

· Maintenance skills across all trades (carpentry, plumbing, electrics, picture hanging, general repairs eg toilet seats and paint jobs.) would be an advantage

This is a part time role: 37.5 hours per week over 5 days. Rangers typically work one Saturday and Sunday every 4 weeks.

Each working day is a 7.5-hour shift per day and the rota hours vary each week with some early starts, e.g. 7am and some late finishes, e.g. 6pm.
