Friends of Brackenhill Park is a small volunteer group of residents who are passionate about improving the environment, community spaces and involving the community. As a small volunteer group, we do not have the capacity to develop Brackenhill Park into a well-used community green space, on our own. Everything we do is to is to benefit the local community and is led by the local community ie our volunteers, members and partners. Once a year we have an annual festival and monthly litter picks.

FOBP completed a consultation a few years ago and found that due to community safety issues and a lack of activities, local people did not fully use the green space and park facilities. Bradford Council have recently invested in the park along with the funds from the sale of the lodge. This has funded a new multi-use games area, new play equipment such as a trim trail and a zip wire and refurbished the play areas with new equipment. Phase three of the masterplan is on the way which will deliver gym equipment, measured mile and further improvement. This has really made a difference to the park, there are more people using and enjoying the facilities.

This has now created an opportunity for us to improve this further. We have been successful in receiving a grant from the National Lottery and have funding to appoint a part time worker to help us achieve our aims of making Brackenhill park a fun, vibrant and safe green space.
