As a FOS Complaints & Litigation Specialist, you will be responsible for providing professional legal services and advice both in a local and international DLL UK environment, to enable the business to achieve its objectives in accordance with set legal goals and standards.

Day to day:

  • Deliver input to the country strategy and business plan from a legal and compliance perspective, analyze and screen on legal and compliance opportunities and threats and advise on improvement.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of (parts of) legal policies, procedures, processes and tools for legal areas of competence, taking into account international and/or local regulations, professional standards and specifics of the business.

  • Contribute to the development of customer and/or partner agreements and advise on legal matters and execute legal activities on behalf of management and other relevant third parties.

  • Liaise with legal counsels on functional expertise within DLL, contribute to the selection and instruct and coordinate the activities of international or local external lawyers and/or law firms for specified assignments, including budget and legal cost control.

  • Exchange and share legal and compliance knowledge, contribute to legal network(s), proactively inform management about legal and compliance developments and coach less senior legal counsels in professional development.

  • You will be independently drafting various types of financial and other agreements and related documents, both within our standard and non-standard business.

  • You will be making legal risk assessments and issuing internal legal opinions.

  • You will be negotiating and drafting partner agreements and develop financial products and offerings in close cooperation with our business units.

  • You will assess programs, processes, procedures, structures, products, and services from a legal point of view and continuously monitor and advise on optimization concerning processes and services, liaising with relevant internal and external stakeholders.

  • Further, you will proactively research and analyse legal developments, taking an active role in your own professional development and that of the legal team.

  • You are a qualified solicitor with at least 2-5 years' experience from working at law firms and/or as in-house counsel in a commercial environment.

  • Your strengths include being self-driven, communicative, fast thinking, structured and having the ability to work against deadlines in several different matters in parallel.

  • You have experience in working closely with the business and operational teams and having a business mindset so you understand complex business structures and needs.

  • You have strong project management skills, and your communication is clear and precise.

  • You have the integrity, experience and knowledge to drive your own cases, with the aim of delivering results with a combination of accuracy and speed.

  • You are proficient in drafting and negotiating agreements in the English language.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience within the financial sector, leasing in particular.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in dealing with the FOS and handling complaints and can work unsupervised in this area.

  • Ability to handle and progress litigation cases with support as appropriate.

  • You have a sound knowledge of customer facing documents used within the asset finance sector and can work un-supervised on any requested changes.
