Full Job Description

As a simulator engineer supporting the training devices in the Boeing network your duties will include:

  • Learning and applying technical expertise of the aircraft to simulator development and test.

  • Collaborating with supplier and Boeing engineering to resolve technical issues.

  • Managing simulator technical requirements.

  • Working closely with Boeing pilots to ensure subjective validation of training devices.

  • Oversee objective testing and the simulator QTG.

  • Supporting and ensuring successful regulatory qualification.

  • Learning the simulator architecture, tools, and processes in order to create a plan for long term device updates and engineering maintenance.


  • As part of Boeing's simulator engineering team extended responsibilities will be:
  • Providing technical engineering support for global simulator devices of all Boeing airplanes types and device manufacturers.

  • Resolving simulator software discrepancies.

  • Planning and executing simulator software modifications and updates.

  • Simulator regulatory qualification and evaluation support.

  • Working closely with global simulator operations teams to keep the Boeing simulator fleet operating seamlessly to train customers 24/7.


  • You need to be able to work independently, have a strong sense of accountability, have excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills, and be eager to work on a diverse and international team.

    This role will primarily involve the sustainment of Boeing fleet of 787 training devices, although you may be required to work on other A/C types if the needs arise.

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, or computer science, or Non-US equivalent education.

  • At least 5 years of simulation industry experience developing full flight simulators.

  • Proficiency in C/C++ and software development environments.

  • Experience with the simulator regulatory qualification processes.

  • Systems experience with commercial aircraft.

  • Excellent technical communication and writing skills., 10+ years of commercial simulation experience in a level D simulator development and test environment.

  • Experience with systems requirements analysis, management, and validation/verification.

  • Knowledge of FAA, EASA, and ICAO simulator standards.

  • Project management and/or technical leadership experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well in diverse teams.

  • Extensive knowledge of full flight simulator architecture.

  • Understanding of the simulator qualification process and regulatory environment.

  • Experience with software design, implementation, and testing processes.

  • Experience using Specification Control Documents (SCDs), Interface Control Documents (ICDs), schematics, wiring diagrams or other Aircraft design documents.


  • Typical Education & Experience:

    (Level 3) Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    (Level 4) Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

    Relocation:
    This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

    Travel

    This position requires the ability to travel internationally. Long term this job requires travel to international locations up to 25% to support global Boeing simulator operations.

    Job requires being capable of working nights to support 24/7 simulator schedules and international campuses as needed. Night shift work may be required up to 10%.
