Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Financial Controller who is flexible, unflappable and with a great personality to work for an established organisation which has a office based on the Northampton borders.

A varied, fast paced role as outlined below:-

Daily duties are likely to involve:-

  • Train and look after a small team whilst encouraging personal growth and development.

  • Take responsibility for and ownership of all finance and accounts functions.

  • Reconcile all bank accounts daily and RBS Invoice finance reconciliations.

  • Prepare monthly Depreciation, Accruals & prepayment journals

  • Prepare monthly management accounts with all balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Analyse and review financial performance and report to directors.

  • Review, maintain and improve general ledger and other systems.

  • Manage cash, credit facilities and credit control.

  • Oversee payroll (and our Auto-enrolment pension scheme) and create and reconcile payroll journals.

  • Prepare and submit VAT returns and handle import/export tax requirements.

  • Ensure company financial systems align with production systems to ensure efficient invoicing.

  • Manage, control and account for company credit cards and payment facilities.

  • Liaise with third party consultants to calculate and submit R&D tax claims and other grants.

  • Liaise with external auditors and accounts for statutory year end accounts and stock take.

  • Oversee day-to-day finance and review month end close aligning with the Finance & HR Manager.

    Qualified Financial Controller, ideally with qualifications but will of course consider QBE

  • Sage Line 50/50 Cloud is essential.

  • Sage Payroll experience would be desirable.

  • Experience of links between accounts and ERP software preferred.

  • Proven ability to solve problems and implement change.

  • Experience of liaising with external auditors and accountants.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently, while managing and prioritising the work of a small finance team

  • Must be a driver as occasionally you will be required to work with the other two local offices
