Full Job Description

You'll be joining the Financial Control team as the Financial Control Manager. Reporting to the Head of Financial Reporting, you'll be a part of a fast-growing business that is challenging the market and doing things differently.

You will manage the Financial Control team, comprising 4 people, to maintain accurate books and records for the ClearBank Group of companies, ensuring a robust control framework underpins all records. You will actively work with peers across the wider Finance function to deliver ClearBank's external reporting requirements. You will develop a sustainable Financial Control function to support ClearBank's future expansion into Europe and other countries.

You will be

  • Managing the Financial Control team to deliver an efficient, timely and controlled month-end financial close process

  • Preparing and presenting variance analysis to explain month-on-month movements as well as actuals against forecast differences, providing detailed written commentary to support the month end close meetings

  • Responsible for the Group maintaining a robust and accurate balance sheet reconciliation process, ensuring all discrepancies are thoroughly investigated and resolved

  • Responsible for preparing accurate pre month end flash reporting of income and expenses for the Financial Planning & Analysis and Commercial teams

  • Lead the annual audit process, acting as the main point of contact for all Financial Control related audit deliverables

  • Ensuring the financial control team uphold robust internal controls and procedures to protect financial data and data integrity, embedding controls within the team culture

  • Ensuring the RCSA accurately captures the risks and controls within Financial Control, performing control testing as required

  • Participating in various ad hoc financial reporting projects as needed, such as process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial reporting processes as ClearBank expands into Europe and other countries

  • Managing the training requirements of the Financial Control team, implementing a development plan for team members to ensure sufficient contingency planning for key roles and mitigating key person dependencies. Ensure the team is correctly sized as ClearBank expands into Europe

    Qualified accountant with multiple years post qualified experience is essential

  • Detailed knowledge and experience of financial control month end processes is essential

  • Detailed knowledge and experience of risk and controls self-assessment procedures is essential

  • Excellent communication skills are essential

  • Ability to explain complex accounting principles in an easy to understand way

  • Time management, analytical skills and attention to detail are essential.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential

  • Prior experience of Dynamics 365 is advantageous

  • An effective team player with a collaborative mindset

  • Capable of thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and respond effectively to shifting priorities
