Full Job Description

As an Accountant in Finance and Procurement you will be integral in the efficient running of our finance systems, supporting senior specialists and other colleagues in maintaining the finances of the council., You will be assisting both the finance systems specialist and other accountants. This will give you a great insight or how the various finance systems are intertwined, how they are managed and the work that goes on to ensure we maintain accurate information. You will also see how we communicate throughout the council so financially informed decisions are at the forefront of all strategic decisions.

Here's what you'll get up to:

  • assisting with the maintenance of Integra together with periodic tasks supporting the finance function

  • producing financial information to be reported on the council's website

  • building effective relationships working with other specialists and budget holders

  • managing your own workload effectively through managing work schedules

  • financial reconciliation work to ensure accuracy of financial information

  • preparing journals

  • A financial background

  • Experience of maintaining financial systems

  • Processing of financial information

  • Attention to detail


  • Your qualifications:
  • Good understanding of English and Maths at GCSE grade 4 or above

  • Applicable finance qualifications would be beneficial
