Full Job Description

We are recruiting for a Finance Manager into our Financial Reporting Centre. The primary focus of this role will be the production and review of legal entity financial reporting and statutory accounts, driving improvement in the annual statutory reporting processes and playing a key role in the wider change agenda across the team.

The FRC Non-Insurance Financial Reporting team is responsible for the delivery of statutory and regulatory Reporting for a number of Legal & General entities.

  • Delivery Management

  • Lead and manage the statutory accounts production process and delivery for the FRC Non-Insurance Financial Reporting team.
    Manage key group reporting IFRS reporting deliverables for assigned entities in a timely and efficient manner.
    Work with key customers on resolving reporting queries, including agreeing reporting requirements and deadlines, with effective communication and presentation of solutions and results.
    Ensure all financial reporting is performed accurately and to agreed timelines, with appropriate liaison with divisional Finance teams, Group technical resources and external auditors.
    Team Management
    To manage team members team in accordance with the Company's policies and procedures, including the Partnership Agreement, so that the team's business objectives are achieved consistently.
    Internal Relationship Management
    Develop and maintain positive and constructive relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure deliverables are understood, planned, and delivered for integration into financial reporting processes.
    Process Management
    Proactively lead the continued enhancement and standardisation of the statutory accounts production process, with appropriate collaboration with key stakeholders.
    Ensure associated process and control documentation is maintained, updating as necessary in line with agreed standards.
    Projects & Change Management
    Represent the team as directed on key projects, providing insight on financial reporting processes, supporting decision making and ensuring requirements are considered and included in project plans.
    Treating Customers Fairly
    Ensuring that the appropriate Finance MI, processes, and systems are in place to provide support to Group Finance so that customers are treated fairly in line with Legal & General's Customer Experience and TCF policy.

  • Qualified accountant with significant PQE

  • Good knowledge of current IFRS accounting standards and best practice reporting processes.

  • Previous experience of statutory accounts production required.

  • Ability to proactively manage own workload and delegate as appropriate.

  • Ability to effectively prioritise and manage multiple deliverables to the required timelines.

  • Ability to work with others to find solutions to process and accounting queries.

  • Ability to develop robust controls.

  • Ability to adapt communication style appropriately to audience.

  • Proactively questioning and improving the status quo, thinking outside the current framework in order to improve productivity, efficiency and processes.

  • Ability to motivate others in order to meet team and individual targets, as well as developing the skills and capability of the team.

  • Be part of a culture of teamwork and participation with colleagues both within own and wider teams.

  • Good coaching skills and ability to lead by example.
