Fertility Specialist / Consultant (Part Time)

Youll perform all routine IVF procedures, manage, plan andundertake patient treatments, providing an exceptional consultation service.

Youllmanage the assessment of emergency admissions, arranging appropriate. You willbe expected to provide clinical support to nursing staff providing emergencytelephone advice, as required.

Were not autocratic, there is an inclusiveand supportive culture where expertise is shared across clinics., The post holder will provide clinical services in the field of reproductive medicine as part of a multidisciplinary team.

They will be responsible for ensuring that the highest standards of clinical care are delivered in line with Care objectives as well as national standards.

They will work closely with the Medical Director, the medical community of the organisation and the wider multidisciplinary team to provide standardised practice across the organisation in addition to continually striving to improve and develop services further.

They will be expected to actively participate in clinical governance and quality management of the local service. The post-holder will work with the Medical Director and colleagues in the management of the rota to ensure activity is achieved and consistent safe cover is available.

Role accountabilities and duties : Specific Duties / Responsibilities Consult and assess patients. Plan and undertake patient treatments.

Undertake the assessment of emergency admissions, arranging appropriate onward referral where appropriate. Correspond / liaise with satellite doctors / general practitioners / referrers / other specialists.

Correspond and communicate with patients ( by phone, email, letter). Ensure the consenting of all patients prior to treatment is undertaken.

Work in theatre, undertaking egg collections, embryo transfers, and other fertility related procedures (within the limits of your competencies).

Provide weekend clinical cover on a rota basis in line with the contractual agreement. Provide clinical cover at other Care clinics as and when needed.

Provide clinical support to nursing staff providing emergency telephone advice, when on call. Participate in Patient Information Events and other educational events for patients.

Management Responsibilities Be an active member of the Clinics Management Team and the Group wide Consultant Team. Attending and contributing to meetings and driving forward the development of the clinic and the wider group donation team.

Ensure a systematic process is embedded for the management and coordination of the day-to-day activities of the team, ensuring safe practice at all times allocating workloads and responsibilities in an efficient and effective way.

Demonstrate leadership and motivation within the clinic leadership team and promote team working. Complete clinical notes and documentation (including financial documentation) in accordance with Care protocols & policies.

Participate in audit, clinical risk management and clinical governance in accordance with Care protocols & policies. Attend and contribute to Quality Management meetings and Ethics Committee meetings.

Ensure best practice is embedded to ensure the team delivers the highest standard of patient care at all times. Ensure effective team and 1-1 communication on group wide, local and team matters.

Provide appropriate development of team members according to their level of capability and competence. Support the development of team members by providing regular feedback and undertaking performance management reviews.

To supervise and undertake the training of employees from all disciplines. Act as Quality Lead for the department to continually improve processes.

Liaise with the local Quality Manager and support with internal audit and actions as required. Advice and information provision Meeting the diverse needs of our patients and having an inclusive approach and embracing diversity.

Being up to date with the regulatory and governance framework by following Cares induction and learning pathways and participating in the competency assessment process.

Be an ambassador for Care Fertility. Systems and digital processes Input data, find information on the clinical patient database and follow the system pathways to ensure accurate record keeping and efficient and safe processes.

Embrace developments and new systems to maximise results and efficiency. Suggest new ideas and improvements. Use Microsoft Outlook to communicate effectively with colleagues.

Teamwork and collaboration To work collaboratively and build trusted relationships with team colleagues and the wider multi-disciplinary team.

Communicate in an engaging way to build relationships and drive change. To actively participate in team meetings and clinic meetings, participate where possible in development projects, forums or research and development projects.

Be supportive of new ideas and their implementation. Direct regular team meetings and ensure effective communication within the wider multi-disciplinary team.

To attend or co-organise the Care embryology conference as required. Openly sharing knowledge with colleagues and being a supportive mentor to others.

Governance and safety Together, with the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring that all processes are followed in accordance with the standard operating procedures.

Maintain accurate and timely records. Ensure role is performed in compliance with the HFEA Code of Conduct. Undertake Continuing Professional Development appropriate for the maintenance of professional certification / revalidation with the GMC.

Comply with the GMC Good Medical Practice recommendations and Care clinical protocols and guidelines Proactively use the Datix incident reporting system to record any incidents and near misses.

Act with integrity, being open and honest so that we learn from each other and achieve better outcomes. Support quality management practices including participating in audit activities.

Follow Infection Control and Prevention policies and requirements. Comply with Health and Safety policies and reporting requirements.
