Full Job Description

We are different in lots of ways (that is what makes us so interesting) with our ages ranging between 54 to 76. Some of us are mobile but some need a little bit of physical assistance to get around our house and out and about. We have some wheelchair users. We have different challenges in our lives which include Dementia, autism and learning disabilities.
We have a staff team who are all trained and familiar with supporting someone with similar needs.

  • We enjoy attending our various day centres with support from staff.

  • Other interests we like listening to music, visiting local pubs, and garden centres for lunch. Most of us love to go shopping. Day trips to the seaside and long drives are always on the agenda.

  • We like to do in house activities, arts and crafts, jigsaws and Love to put a Disney Movie on especially at the weekends.

  • We are fun loving, kind, caring, and often like our own personal space.

  • We need the people who support us to be patient, and to understand that at times some of us get very frustrated and we like them to refer to any PBS, or our daily care plan to assist with supporting us in the best way to cope with our individual behaviours and needs.

  • Sometimes it is just trivial things that make us incredibly happy, like a hand massage or having our nails painted.

  • As some of us are nonverbal, being offered choices, and having things explained to us is particularly important, we each have our own format of communication.

  • Sometimes the people we support really need a male or female person to support them. For this particular role, a female colleague is required. This is a genuine occupational requirement as defined by the Equality Act 2010

We know it takes a special person to work in social care and we recognise that not everyone that would be perfect for the role, will have professional experience. This is why we're really passionate about recruiting to individuals' values and we recruit people from all walks of life; From people with vast experience in a support worker or care assistant role, from people with lived experiences who may have friends or relatives with disabilities or have looked after older relatives, to people with no experience at all.

Naturally it is important too that you share our company values - We Include; We Deliver; We Aspire; We Respect; We Enable, which are at the heart of everything we do and ensure that we deliver high quality, consistent care and support. People's values are important to use, so we look for people with:
  • Patience

  • Empathy, compassion and sensitivity to others

  • A strong work ethic

  • Reliability

  • Honesty

  • Determination

  • A problem solver

  • Resilience
