Full Job Description

We are looking for an Environmental Sustainability Manager to join our Sustainability and Innovation team in our Lower Thames Crossing project office. The position is for a 12-month fixed term.

What you'll do:

Influence, develop and drive environmental excellence through the planning phases of a major road project

Lead the development of excellent environmental management systems and plans on a major infrastructure project.

Manage specialist environmental resources to comply surveys and reports as well as develop environmental management plans and discharge environmental commitments and requirements

You will influence and support other delivery team functions as well as develop and maintain strong customer relationships.

The role will ensure compliance with environmental standards and legislation.

You will identify, appraise, and communicate environmental risks and opportunities.

This role will collaborate with customer and Scheme Delivery Partners on evolution of environmental management systems, communication of good practice, lessons learnt and innovation.

You will assist the OU Lead Environmental Sustainability Manager and wider Infrastructure environmental sustainability team deliver best practice initiatives and improvement projects.

You will be responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of suitable environmental training for all project staff.

  • Degree level in appropriate Environmental or demonstrable, relevant experience

  • Proven construction industry experience or relevant environmental experience in a similar sector

  • Experience in delivery of environmental management in major construction projects - particularly at the planning stage.

  • Full Membership with IEMA or similar professional membership

  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel projects/ contracts in region.
