Full Job Description

  • Whilst studying for your degree you will undertake work in the environmental Health team

  • You will assist officers with and progress to undertake independently, proactive inspections, compliance visits, investigations, surveys, sampling and interventions in commercial and domestic premises and the wider environment, as directed by other officers.

  • As your knowledge and competence develops you will take on a case load of reactive work, including responding to and investigating complaints, as well as proactive project work and educational activities where required

  • In all cases, responding within corporate timescales, keeping relevant parties informed and maintaining up to date case records

    The training you will be getting

  • You will study with the University of Middlesex on their Environmental Health (Apprenticeship) BSc (Honours) course commencing September 2020

  • It will be a condition of any employment offer that you are accepted onto the degree programme by the University of Middlesex

  • Support will be provided to liaise with the University for the application, Building on the taught knowledge of the degree, you will develop the practical skills of an Environmental Health Practitioner, while learning from and supporting experienced professionals

  • Upon successful completion of the 4-year degree programme, you would have the opportunity to gain professional status as an Environmental Health Practitioner

    IT skills, Presentation skills, Analytical skills, Team working, Excellent communication skills, Collaborative approach, Influencing and assertiveness, Self motivated, Effective time management, Report writing, GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4/C) Essential

  • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4/C) Essential
    A Level or equivalent Any subject (Grade C or above) Essential
    A Level or equivalent Any subject (Grade C or Above) Essential
    A Level or equivalent Science or technology-based subject (Grade C or above) Essential, Admission onto the apprenticeship degree programme is an integral part of this post, so qualifications must be suitable to gain admission to this programme of study. 90 UCAS points (typically at least grades CCC at A-Level or Level 3 equivalent) with a minimum of one science or technology-based subject., Environmental health practitioner (integrated degree)

    Level 6 (Degree with honours)

    You could reduce your training time, or finish your apprenticeship faster, if you have relevant prior learning or experience. This could be relevant:
