Full Job Description

To support the Council's Community Safety Strategy by providing a front line response to Environmental Crime, Anti-Social Behaviour and any infringement of the relevant legislations in partnership with the Police and other partner agencies.

The post holder will effectively respond to problems effecting the public highway, investigate and tackle incidents of Anti Social Behaviour such as littering, fly-tipping, dog fouling, graffiti, illegal Street Trading, fly-posting, illegal encroachment, moving on itinerants, selling vehicles on the public highway and illegal encampments etc utilising powers under the;

· Crime & Disorder Act 1998

· Environmental Protection Act 1990 (EPA)

· Control of Pollution (Amendment) Act1989 (CoP(A)

· Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 (CNEA)

· Environment Act 1995 (EA95)

· Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE)

· Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 (CPIA)

· The Human Rights Act 1998 (HR)

· Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000 (RIPA)

To manage Community Safety's covert CCTV activities in relation to environmental and highways offences working in co-operation with local authority and other outside agencies such as the Police and the Environment Agency to conduct overt and covert CCTV surveillance operations with a view to reducing Environmental Crime across the Borough and in accordance with the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act and the Enforcement Concordat

To carry out the duties of disclosure as per the Government's Code of Practice for CCTV, collating and storing evidence in accordance with RIPA and the Data Protection Act 1998

· Able to organise, plan and prioritise workload effectively.

· Be flexible and responsive to the needs of the service.

· Work independently and as part of a team.

· Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a wide range of people including members, senior officers, and community representatives.

Qualifications

· Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

Specifications

Full-time 36 hours per week, flexible hybrid position.

Will occasionally be required to work outside normal office hours, attend meetings, courses, and events both within and outside the borough of Croydon.
