Full Job Description

SAFed Category 3 Engineer Surveyors are required to undertake and meet the statutory examination and contractual inspection obligations against Company defined Object Competencies (Power Press Class). In doing so Engineer Surveyors are responsible for ensuring that they comply with all Company policies, processes, and procedures in the carrying out of their duties.

Typical examination may include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Other equipment defined with PUWER 98 (as applied to Power Presses) & subject to the contractual requirements of our client companies.


  • Our work locations vary greatly, and can include but are not limited to;
  • Those that can be accessed within a standard working day

  • Those that require higher levels of travel and overnight stays

  • Willing and able to work overtime and be flexible if required

  • Prioritizing and bringing about decisions., As an Engineer Surveyor, there is no fixed place of work, and you are required to attend the premises of the Company's clients in order to execute your duties.

  • You will be required to manage your work efficiently maintaining schedule inspection dates and achieving operational performance metrics.

  • Ensure full meaningful work days by planning and arranging all work related activities in an effective, timely and efficient manner, with an accurate account of all time involved being recorded.

  • Be familiar with the Health and Safety Regulations and Company policies applicable to the area of responsibility.

  • Be responsible for their own safety and that of the Customer and set an example by using the appropriate health and safety procedure and appropriate use of PPE.

  • Ensure that all plant on the Contract Schedule for the allocated service area is examined/ inspected in accordance with applicable standards or accepted codes of practice, with reports compiled to the standard required.

  • So far as is reasonably practicable, ensure that safe systems of work are available, including application of appropriate Risk Assessments and Method Statements, both our clients and our own. Where safe systems of work are not deemed appropriate, the Regional Engineering Manager must be advised.

  • Provide, build and maintain excellent client relationships and ensure that all customer service standards are met.

  • Maintain an awareness of developments in standards and legislation affecting the appropriate discipline and support change as required. (Suitable and sufficient levels of CPD to maintain profession competency)

    ONC, OND, Technicians Certificates at least T3 level, NVQ level 3, or equivalent.

  • Experience within a relevant engineering field and knowledge of the plant, systems or services in the intended primary Discipline.

  • Knowledge/understanding of statutory regulations, such as, PUWER & British Standards. Ability to follow and apply statutory requirements and guidelines and company defined policies, processes, and procedures.

  • Ability to communicate at all levels.

  • Able to work within a supervised environment reporting back to Technical Trainers, Principal Engineers or Line Managers.

  • Experienced at work planning & time management.

  • Good IT skills and able to operate Microsoft packages.

  • Have the skills for further development to complete LOLER & PSSR examinations should there be an operational need.
