Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Endoscopy Validation Coordinator to join the Digestive Diseases Team in MEC. The successful applicant will have strong communication, IT and organisation skills and be able to prioritise their own workload. An ability to understand the need for maintaining confidentiality is also essential. The main duty includes validation of the endoscopy waiting list ensuring data quality issues and potential errors are corrected, assess waiting times and conduct patient enquiries to determine their current circumstances, needs and preferences relating to their diagnostic need, liaising with clinicians on treatment plan and remove duplicate entries or out of date waiting list information for patients that have under gone the diagnostic procedure on another pathway or separate waiting list entry, elsewhere or if their condition has resolved. Other general admin duties may be expected in this role.,

  • Validation of the endoscopy waiting list ensuring data quality issues and potential errors are corrected

  • Assess waiting times and conduct patient enquiries to determine their current circumstances, needs and preferences relating to their diagnostic need, liaising with clinicians on treatment plan.

  • Identify surveillance patients and ensure missing due dates are populated ahead of clinical validation

  • Remove duplicate entries or out of date waiting list information for patients that have under gone the diagnostic procedure on another pathway or separate waiting list entry, elsewhere or if their condition has resolved.

  • Support validation of Monthly DM01 data

  • Work closely with the Endoscopy Operational Manager, Booking Manager, Clinicians, Pre-Op and Booking teams across all specialties to ensure patients are actively managed through patient pathways ensuring the Trusts access policy is adhered to.

  • Ensure that appropriate requests for investigations are monitored following the clinician's instructions. If diagnostic delays occur or appear imminent liaise with the diagnostic booking team manager for action.

  • Ensure all information relating to the patient's pathway clearly identifies all relevant target dates to ensure accuracy and to aid other users of the relevant systems, such as Cerner etc.

  • To support the division in implementation of robust follow-up tracking, ensuring no patient is ever 'lost in the system'


  • To maintain up to date knowledge of all standards, targets and processes relating to the patient pathway process and to be a point of reference for administrative teams across the Trust.

  • To provide, local training and support to other staff within the Trust regarding processes and procedures.

  • To adhere to the Trust's Access Policy

  • To provide reports and attend relevant meetings as requested by the Divisional and Directorate managers.
