Full Job Description

Legal Services plays a crucial role in providing legal advice to all departments of the Council, as well as some external organisations. This is an exciting opening for the right candidate to join our supportive and dynamic Litigation Legal Team as a Senior Employment Lawyer

The successful candidate will assist in the managing of a caseload of employment cases and act as an advocate in employment related cases at Tribunal as required. You will be responsible for the provision of an effective, efficient comprehensive and professional in-house advice on matters of employment to departments in the council, including schools, working closely with the council's HR department.

The council works an Agile Working Policy and the post holder can work remotely, but will be expected to come to the office at least 2 days per week and when required to attend Tribunals.

We are looking for someone with working experience of a wide range of employment law.

Applicants for this role will need to have good communication and organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines. An ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and understand client needs with a strong focus on delivering positive outcomes is equally important.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a mixed caseload of employment cases with little supervision.

The applicant will be a qualified solicitor, barrister or fellow of CILEX with at least 5 years post qualification experience.
