Full Job Description

We are seeking a motivated undergraduate student for a 12-month placement opportunity in the University's Careers & Employability Service where you will support a range of activities to help students develop their employability and work experience. You will have an influential role as part of a small team working on the 'Ambition Programme', a wide reaching project funded by the Law Family Charitable Foundation to inspire and support university students from underrepresented or widening participation (WP) backgrounds.

During your placement year you will have a key role in project planning and delivery of events to help students develop their skills and career confidence, with support from your line manager. You will help to deliver a series of events and activities for WP students, working with colleagues, employers and alumni volunteers, including optimising student participation using various promotion and communication methods. You will also provide operational and administrative support for other networking events with employers and alumni.

You will take the lead on researching and producing content for the "Equal Opportunities in Careers" blog that is designed to provide employability support and information for a large number of students at the University of Sheffield.

Applicants for this exciting role will need to be current undergraduate students at the University of Sheffield aiming to undertake a placement year in 2024/25, with a keen interest in supporting student employability as part of the forward thinking Careers and Employability Service. Don't worry if you don't have much work experience yourself - this placement opportunity will provide a great opportunity for you to develop your skills and experience as you support others.

We're one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University's Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
