Full Job Description

Position Overview: As an Electrical Engineer in our Power Networks team, you will play a critical role in designing, analysing and optimising electrical power systems across a variety of power generation, transmission and distribution projects. Your deep understanding will enable you to contribute to the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of these systems, helping redefine the future energy landscape.,

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop comprehensive power system designs that align with client requirements and industry standards.

  • Conducting power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, and transient stability analysis, to assess system performance and identify potential issues.

  • Designing and implementing protection and control schemes to ensure the reliability and security of power systems.

  • Evaluating equipment specifications, such as transformers, switchgear, and generators, to ensure compatibility and optimal performance within the power network.

  • Participating in the development of renewable energy projects, including integration of solar, wind, and energy storage systems into existing grids.

  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

  • Collaborating with clients to understand their unique challenges and objectives, and delivering innovative solutions that exceed their expectations.

  • Developing relationships with clients, identifying and pursuing project opportunities, and / or providing support and direction on tenders and bids.

  • Staying up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and advancements in power systems technology to drive continuous improvement in project outcomes.

    Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • Proven experience in power systems engineering, including renewable energy integration and grid analysis.

  • Proficiency in power system analysis software such as PSS/E, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, IPSA or PowerWorld.

  • Experience developing or implementing bespoke automation to power network analysis (typically using Python, C++, and VBA languages etc.)

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex technical challenges.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and clients.

  • Knowledge of UK energy regulations, standards, and industry trends.

  • Membership or eligibility for membership with relevant professional engineering associations (e.g., IET, CIGRE).
