Full Job Description

The School of Clinical Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Education Technology Assistant to join our dynamic eLearning Team.

In this role, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and maintaining our cutting-edge Moodle-based Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). You will be the go-to person for clinical students, academic staff, and administrative personnel, ensuring they have a seamless learning experience.

Here's what you'll be doing:

  • Collaborate with the eLearning Team to manage and support the VLE, fostering a robust learning environment for future healthcare professionals.

  • Become a master of the support desk: You'll be responsible for managing a shared email inbox, troubleshooting user queries, and providing clear solutions or escalating complex issues.

  • Sharpen your technical skills: Maintain and test the VLE, ensuring optimal performance and user experience.

  • Content is key: Work alongside staff to develop engaging and high-quality course content, adhering to strict quality and regulatory standards.

  • Embrace accessibility: Collaborate with the team to ensure all VLE content meets EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) standards.

  • Support faculty in recording lectures and developing pre-recorded learning materials.

  • Become a learning champion: Deliver training sessions on eLearning concepts and tools to empower academic and administrative staff.

  • Think outside the box: Assist academic staff in finding innovative solutions and technological advancements to enhance the clinical curriculum.

  • Project co-ordination: Take ownership of small-scale projects that optimize the clinical curriculum.

  • Stay organized: Act as secretary for the bi-monthly eLearning Steering Group meetings, managing documentation, reports, and research for recommendations.

A strong educational background (HND/HNC, Level 4/5 qualifications, or equivalent experience).

  • Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on clear communication.

  • Experience supporting users with software systems, particularly those related to online learning environments.

  • Proficiency in task management tools (e.g. JIRA/Trello) and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • A passion for technology and a commitment to excellence in online learning.

  • The ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and thrive in a collaborative team environment.

  • This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the future of clinical education. If you are a highly motivated individual with a dedication to both education and technology, we encourage you to apply.
