Full Job Description

As Education and Development Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring that the care and support provided to patients and their families is based on the best possible evidence and delivered to the highest quality standards. You will lead on the planning, development, delivery and governance of education, training and professional development for the Hospice workforce including clinical staff, non-clinical staff, and volunteers. You will also work with external partners, including NHS and academic institutions to build partnerships that facilitate the delivery of excellent palliative and end of life education and training. You will also promote the work of the Hospice and its learning at regional and national forums and establish plans for a bi-annual national specialist palliative care conference.

In this important and central role, no one day will be the same. Drawing on your nursing experience and clinical expertise, you will be in constant communication with all of the hospice's departments, working closely with department heads to ensure that we have a highly skilled workforce. You will conduct training needs analyses and develop an internal and external education programme based on up-to-date, evidence-based practice. You will directly deliver teaching and training activities, as well as ensuring rigorous evaluation of all teaching and training provided. As well as supporting and developing student placements in Saint Catherine's Hospice, you will identify opportunities to contribute to training of staff and students from external organisations.
