Full Job Description

Bromley & Beckenham HC is looking to recruit a Director of Junior Hockey responsible for co-ordinating and enhancing our junior hockey programme for the 2024/25 season. With over 300+ juniors and growing steadily year on year, we actively look to expand, with a focus on development and performance, whilst looking to gain a larger presence on the London and National junior circuit.

The Junior Director of Hockey Role

Working across all age groups, we actively search for an individual to help lead and co-ordinate the delivery of junior hockey at BromBecks. They will be integral in the shaping of a junior development and action plan, whilst also offering support and oversight to our volunteer coaches, across the groups. This will involve planning and coordinating a program that covers the fundamental golden thread approach to skills required for hockey.

Responsibilities:

Observe and participate across the various age groups, offering guidance and support to the groups coaches. The aim - to ensure a high standard of coaching from U6 to U18, whilst ensuring that sessions remain fun and engaging.

Be aspirational to the volunteers/parents who lead the groups and provide clear leadership to the 'collective' coaching team

Be a prominent Lead coach for one age group side.

Continue to drive the junior to senior club transition and encourage respective players to participate in senior sides for their wider development and progress. interact with senior club coaches to offer suggestion and feedback on where players could best fit into sides.

Respect the Club's policy on Safeguarding and Protecting young people in the sport. You must hold a valid first aid certification and child protection training. Club to support where necessary.

Assist with the running & management of our successful young leader's program.

As the club continues to grow it's outreach partnerships, with a range of local schools, you will be asked to support in the recruitment of new players, through this initiative.

Attend regular junior committee meetings, to provide feedback and progress updates on the respective age groups.

Required: England Hockey Sessional Coaching Qualification (or Level 2 equivalent). DBS checks, first aid and child protection training will need to be undertaken.

Desired: England Hockey Advanced Coach Programme (or Level 3 equivalent)

Remuneration: £25+ per hour (plus performance bonus) with a minimum time commitment of 6 hours per week (in season).
