This post is part of a team at the University of Hertfordshire to lead on supporting staff and students to have the resources, skills and knowledge to develop and excel in an increasingly digital world.
There are two posts available, one in each of the two Strategic Business Units (SBUs) responsible for digital capability development at the university. Please see the attached information sheet.
Main duties and responsibilities
The Digital Skills Developer will work as part of a team to assist in the design and delivery of digital skills development opportunities, aimed at staff and students. You will support the execution of the Digital Capabilities Strategy initiatives including the design and delivery of training sessions. You will also support our needs assessment activities, including the use of the Jisc Discovery Tool, analysis of our Digital Insights Survey data, consultations with SBUs, and the analysis of training and development feedback.

You will have substantial proven experience in supporting the design and delivery of live synchronous and/or in-person training sessions across one or more areas of digital skills development to small and large audiences. You will also have substantial proven experience in supporting the development of online self-study course materials that are high in quality, engaging and effective.
You will have knowledge of the Jisc Digital Capabilities Framework and/or other similar frameworks and tools used to assess development needs and knowledge of sector trends and emerging themes relating to digital transformation and digital skills development. You will have an ability to identify and leverage available technologies, including those that are common in higher education institutions, the workplace or the home environment (Microsoft, Google, Apple, Android), into digital skills development opportunities.
Excellent communication and strong organisational skills are essential qualities for this post, along with a passion for developing others., Minimum of a Degree qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject (Education, Educational Technology, Digital Technology, Multimedia, Information Technology) or proven experience of doing a similar job at an appropriate level

FTE: 1.0 fte (working 37 hours per week)
Duration of Contract: Permanent
Salary: UH7 £37,099pa to £40,521pa with potential to progress to £44,263pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience
Annual Leave: 30 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
