An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at Sherwood Forest NHS Hospitals Maternity Department as a Band 7 Diabetes Specialist Midwife to provide safe and personalised care, achieving equity and reducing health inequalities in line with the National Maternity Agenda. Through close multidisciplinary team working and an intensified focus on glucose management within maternity settings the DSM plays a pivotal role in navigating care pathways to promote positive pregnancy and birth outcomes.

The successful post holder will be passionate and experienced in working with women and birthing people with diabetes, providing direct maternity care to these women in conjunction with the Obstetricians, Diabetes consultants, Diabetes Specialist midwife, Diabetes Specialist Nurses, Dietician and wider multidisciplinary teams (MDT).

They will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide a high standard of personalised and evidence-based care to women/birthing people with diabetes throughout pregnancy and beyond. They will be expected to be a visible presence on the maternity unit being accessible to the Maternity Team for support and advise on care during the admission of a pregnant person with diabetes in pregnancy.
