Full Job Description

Matillion is built around small development teams with responsibility for specific themes and initiatives. The Site Reliability Engineer - DevX is someone who likes to have an impact on building tools for other engineers to improve the developer experience. The Developer Experience team at Matillion is part of the Internal Engineering Platform group in the Site Reliability Engineering division, and works on tools and resources to make engineering efficient, easier and engaging.
We value in-person collaboration here at Matillion, therefore this role follows our hybrid work structure where Matillioners work 2 days a week in either our Manchester or Madrid office. Our core day is Wednesday, and the second day will be determined together. The rest of the week you are welcome to work from the office, or remotely if you'd prefer.
Technologies you'll use…Java, Python, Cloud Tech, Kafka, Databases, Docker, Terraform, Agile (Scrum), React,

  • You'll be researching and experimenting with new ways to improve developer workflows and practices to empower our Engineers to be more productive

  • You'll also be authoring and engaging with documentation, curating presentations, demonstrations, and learning guides to make it incredibly easy for developers to do their jobs

  • Contributing to high-impact tech initiatives that shape how developers write and ship code, you'll improve the overall development process by identifying gaps or inefficiencies in workflows and suggesting solutions

  • By creating the next generation developer tooling and infrastructure for Matillion, focusing on productivity, testing, and release, you'll implement and automate development best practices and strategies

  • You'll also develop and track key metrics for engineering performance, drive their improvement over time, and communicate their status

    Software Engineer background with programming experience in one or more of the following; Java, Javascript/Typescript, React, NodeJS, Python, Go, AWS, Docker, Serverless, Terraform

  • Proficient in measuring success, value and gaps, and strive to justify decisions with data

  • Proven experience collaborating and working with stakeholders, for example across a wider Engineering team, or Product teams

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with people at all seniority levels

  • Experience in cloud infrastructure cost optimisation and management would be ideal

    At Matillion, we are committed to providing competitive salaries in line with market standards. Our estimated compensation range for this position is £44,000 - £66,000, but the final salary will be based on your relevant skills, experience and qualifications demonstrated in the hiring process.
