Full Job Description

Kew Riverside Primary School wishes to appoint a highly motivated and successful Senior Leader to take up the position of Deputy Headteacher for one year as a maternity cover from September 2024. Kew Riverside is a small single-form entry primary school with mixed age classes, with an engrained ethos of nurture for every child, and an excellent community spirit. We are in the middle of a truly exciting time of change and development and are searching for a passionate, dedicated and outstanding Primary specialist to join our experienced Leadership Team for one year. This role provides a wonderful opportunity for a dynamic and forward-looking leader to work alongside our energetic and loyal team and support the future strategy of the school whilst engaging with the whole school community to implement development plans.

The person appointed will be expected to set high standards in all aspects of school life and continue our rigorous drive to further improve standards, raise attainment for all our pupils and continue to build upon the many strengths of our school. As a school we prioritise the wellbeing of our staff and offer an open door approach where everyone is valued and supported.

We have a wonderful cohort of children with a wealth of talent and enthusiasm to learn, and a friendly, welcoming staff who know every child individually.

What makes our school special:

  • Our diverse community with a range of cultural, religious and socio-economic backgrounds

  • Caring and dedicated staff who have high ambitions for each child

  • Our well-embedded pastoral program that supports children to become confident, independent learners with a strong sense of self-worth

  • A strong support network and an ambitious governing body

  • Our location in beautiful Kew, with a private school car park and excellent public transport links

  • We are seeking a Deputy Headteacher who places children at the heart of all we do at the school, and who will value and uphold its nurturing ethos. Successful applicants will lead with empathy and by example, to specifically:

  • Achieve the best possible academic and developmental outcomes for children across all backgrounds and abilities

  • Drive improvements in teaching and learning within a well-structured curriculum

  • Develop and embed a vision for school development, engaging children, parents, staff and the wider community to help realise this vision
