Deputy Head

We are a specialist provision with over 300 students who have Social and Communication difficulties. All our students have EHCP's. We currently have Early Years to age 19. We are based over two sites in Swindon, our main site at Jefferies Avenue and our post-16 provision based at Swindon New College, North Star Avenue campus.

Main purpose

The Deputy Headteacher, under the direction of the Headteacher, will take a major role in:

• Formulating the aims and objectives of the school.



• Establishing policies for achieving these aims and objectives.



• Managing staff and resources to that end.



• Monitoring progress towards the achievement of the school's aims and objectives.


If the Headteacher is absent, the Deputy Headteacher will deputise, as directed by the Governing Board for long term absence, and by the Headteacher for short term absence.

The Deputy Headteacher will also be expected to fulfil the professional responsibilities of a Headteacher, as set out in the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document (STPCD).

This is a teaching post, and the post holder will be required to teach up to 0.2 FTE of a weekly timetable.
