Full Job Description

  • Data exploration (existing and new potential sources)

  • Data cleaning, visualisation, and storytelling

  • Data preparation for machine learning (i.e. data modelling, creation of training datasets, labelling of raw data)

  • Build and test algorithms (machine learning models and statistical methods), using an iterative approach

  • Validate, improve, and integrate algorithms developed by others

  • Operationalisation of machine learning pipelines on the required infrastructure with the support of IT

  • Work collaboratively within the Analytics Team and with other Subject Matter Experts across the organisation to design and prototype solutions for analytics problems


  • Present results (to technical and non-technical audiences)

  • Develop and cultivate data quality best practices

  • Provide high attention to detail with ability to manage and resolve multiple priorities, project complexities and uncertainties

  • Keep abreast of new data sources and latest developments in data science and machine learning

  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and critical, bold thinking in all situations

  • Statistics and exploratory data analysis (EDA)

  • Early-career experience as a data scientist exploring data and developing machine learning solutions, applying state-of-the-art techniques and using satellite/geospatial data

  • Competence in Python and SQL programming

  • Advanced degree Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or other STEM subjects

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team

  • Must be a UK resident with valid work authorization

    GHGSat is mapping and tracking the world's greenhouse gas (GHG) emitters. To accomplish this goal GHGSat operates its own satellite and aircraft sensors to collect emissions data, and uses these with third-party data to inform an analytics pipeline that:


  • Identifies and classifies potential GHG emitters

  • Detects and quantifies GHG emissions

  • Generates valuable insights for our customers


  • The successful candidate will extract, analyze, and interpret large amounts of structured and unstructured data from a range of proprietary and public sources, using modern data science techniques to develop emissions intelligence for GHGSat's analytics products.

    Opportunities to contribute to the publication of scientific papers are possible.

    This role will be based out of London, UK.
