Data Engineer

Hybrid working- Office based in Birmingham - Currently the team come into the office for team events or meetings around business needs, so work from the office infrequently (subject to change if necessary), We are looking for 2 Data Engineers to join our team within Wesleyans Data Centre of Excellence. These roles are key to achieving success within our Data Excellence pillar of our Data Strategy which has a primary objective of getting the right data, to the right people, at the right time by developing our flexible data architecture.

We are continuing to develop the Data platforms, launching work within Data Science and working on the strategic platforms that are essential to the business, using leading cutting edge technologies.

This is a great opportunity to utilise your existing skills and experience within this space, alongside having the opportunity to take part in Datacamp training to further your personal career, and work on a migration which is part of a high profile programme of work.

What you'll be doing:

• Maintain the smooth operation of a robust data infrastructure


• Provide the support of the key Data Information platforms


• Develop, construct, test and maintain data architectures, such as the data warehouse and data lakehouse


• Identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality.


• A highly capable member of specialist team, providing 'a single version of the truth' to the business to enable valuable insights into our chosen markets and leverage the true value of our data.
  
  Skills gained from a data, analytics or information management discipline with development skills on data transformation, database and data warehouse development


• Demonstrable proficiency in either Python or Java


• Extensive working knowledge of SQL


• Hands on experience working with BI tools (PowerBI, Tableau or similar).


• Hands on experience and knowledge working with the Azure toolset; including cloud platforms- Azure and Synapse Analytics


• An organised and flexible approach to work with ability to work on own initiative
