Full Job Description

Duties are varied and a multi-tasking approach will be required, but will broadly include:

  • Plan and prepare sound, lighting, AV, set, staging and backdrops for school productions and live events including award ceremonies, music concerts and open evening

  • Support the Enrichment Faculty with exam performances by preparing staging, lighting/sound/AV, filming and editing the performances in line with exam board requirements

  • Film and edit school videos to share school activities and events with the wider Langley community

  • Organisation, repair and maintenance of technical equipment in the Enrichment Faculty

  • Stock checking and ordering equipment in liaison with teaching staff

  • Offer technical support for other departments to make use of the theatre for alternative curriculum delivery

  • Performing other tasks as may reasonably be required by the Headteacher or Head of Faculty, Creative Venue Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship qualification is delivered in the workplace with the option to join specialist upskilling sessions in College by arrangement with your mentor/coach.

  • Functional Skills in maths and English (if required) are delivered remotely, but the option to join a face-to-face group in college is available.

  • Specialist training, for example, 'working at heights', arranged at the College.

  • End point assessment.

    Communication skills, Interest in creative arts, Can-do approach, Able to multi-task, GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4 (C) or above) Essential

  • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4 (C) or above) Essential
    NVQ or SVQ Level 2 or equivalent Any subject (Grade Pass) Desired, A working knowledge of theatre spec sound and lighting equipment would be highly advantageous. The job will include the building of sets and creation of backdrops so a creative flair and good DIY skills would be of great benefit. We would also expect the apprentice to have a love of the Creative Arts.

    Langley School is an inclusive, welcoming school serving children aged between 11-16. The Creative Arts provide a diverse mix of cultural experiences through the study of Music, Drama and Art. All pupils study the Creative Arts subjects at Key Stage 3 and can opt for Drama, Art, Music and Photography for GCSE. We also offer many opportunities for pupils outside of the curriculum such as school productions, concerts, exhibitions and out-of-school experiences.
