Full Job Description

The aim of visiting care services is to provide a high quality domiciliary care service, to support people to remain as independent as they can within their own home. We will do this by providing a personalised service that is tailored to their individual support needs, working in partnership with individual and people that are important to them.

We will listen to and work in partnership with others to ensure the best possible outcomes are achieved., This is an exciting opportunity to support the development of our supporting living service in the Essex County, that' support young adults and adults with disability and mental health service in Supported Living service in Essex.

You will be responsible for managing the service and staff.

You will lead and manage the running of services and ensure adherence to all regulatory and relevant legislation requirements.

Provide effective leadership to the staff team promoting the values, policies, and procedures of both services and manage new services when they open.

To ensure that the workforce has the skills, competencies and knowledge to ensure that the people we support lead as independent and fulfilling lives as possible.

This job description lists the main areas in which you will be expected to provide support. We may need to add more specific tasks to this based on the needs and wishes of the people. This supports their right to have control over their own lives.

This role is remote but will require regular visits on site to both services.

Main Duties and Responsibilities Leadership

  • Oversee and manage teams at both services ensuring high-quality care and support.


  • Mentor, coach and drive your team to succeed and push services to achieve a CQC 'Outstanding.'


  • Contribute to the overall growth and development of services in line with our vision


  • To conduct audits, monitor and review the services progress against service development plans and identify opportunities for growth and innovation..


  • Ensure compliance with company objectives and statutory requirements.


  • Provide person-centred care using approved approaches.


  • Operational management, monitoring, coordination, and administration of facilities.


  • Promote a company culture conducive to high-standard care and support delivery.


  • Support recruitment processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements


  • Ensure that leadership in both services are meeting regulatory requirements


  • Oversee and monitor accidents or incidents ensuring these are documented in the managers monthly report and relevant safeguarding or CQC notifications have been raised or escalated to Quality and Governance Lead


  • Monitor and oversee the interactions and performance and conduct of staff on duty and respond to poor or inappropriate practice.


  • Play a lead role in negotiations with commissioning bodies on fees and contract's as well as address any safeguarding issues that may arise that require a higher level of input.


  • Provide effective management supervision in both sites.


  • Develop an open, transparent culture which strives for continuous improvement, the well-being of the staff team and a culture which learns lessons and where the workforce feel valued.


  • Ensure all information is kept up to date in accordance with GDPR legislation.


  • Undertake regular supervisions and commit to the development of all staff


  • Lead on initiatives to market the service and attract new referrals and enquires.


  • Develop key relationships with the Care Quality Commission, Local Authority, Health professionals and other key stakeholders.


  • Create an open and transparent culture enabling staff to confidently raise concerns and ensure there is clear evidence of lessons learnt when there have been incidents and near miss events.


  • Plan and lead an on-call rota ensuring staff have access to clear advice, guidance and support in case of any emergencies.


  • Commit to the development, knowledge and skills of managers ensuring that mandatory training is up to date and that opportunities are identified for additional training.


  • Carry out investigations when there has been care or conduct concerns, liaising with the Quality Lead and our relevant HR partners as necessary.


  • Act swiftly to performance and capability concerns


  • Address concerns with staff performance, competency, and skills at all times following relevant policies and procedures.


  • Carry out any additional tasks or duties according to your Registered Manager responsibilities and within your scope of competence.


  • Quality and Governance
  • Follow the Governance calendar ensuring all relevant systems and process are undertaken.


  • Ensure monthly monitoring of managers Continuous Improvement plans ensuring that resources and support is given to achieve compliance.


  • Liaise with the Quality and Governance lead at all times in relation to significant events, safeguarding's and investigations.


  • Ensure all audits are undertaken as per the Quality Assurance framework and actions are added to the Continuous Improvement plan.


  • Ensure analysis undertaken by the Quality and Governance Lead are addressed with managers and necessary action is taken.


  • Carry our regular observations audits of staff interactions and culture.


  • Ensure that competencies are undertaken in key areas.


  • Ensure that actions identified in surveys are addressed.


  • Attend the bi-monthly Quality and Governance meetings.


  • Other duties
  • Work closely with the Quality Lead and Property manager to identify growth opportunities and new business.


  • Support the Directors in marketing each service, developing key relationships with commissioners and ensuring that vacancies are communicated, and assessments are undertaken in a responsive manner.


  • Address poor performance or capability concerns.


  • Act as an ambassador for the service, ensuring as the Registered Manager you maintain professionalism and integrity at all times.


  • As the Registered manager, you refrain from befriending staff or services users on social network sites


  • Always act in the best interest of any person who may lack capacity.


  • Ensure that the safeguarding of the people we support is a priority at all times.


  • Be aware of, and follow the procedure for, reporting any safeguarding concerns or incidents


  • Keep accurate records at all times.


  • Attend training and ensure all mandatory training is up to date.


  • Ensure you carry out monthly management meetings with both managers.


  • Co-operate and attend a yearly appraisal with the Quality Lead/Nominated individual.


  • Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of the people we support and the workforce.


  • Embrace team working by ensuring effective and open communication for the benefit of the people we support

    Essential:

    QCF/NVQ CF L5 in Leadership for Health & Social Care Services or equivalent qualification .

    Previous role as Senior Manager in Health and Social Care

    Proven experience in caring for vulnerable adults and/or children

    Experience in managing and leading teams within Health and Social care

    Desirable:

    Mentor/teaching qualification

    Registered Nurse or Social Worker

    Safeguarding Adults Level 3

    Previous role as Registered Manager or Deputy in a Health and Social Care setting

    Proven experience in supporting people with Learning Disabilities/Autism/Mental health

    Working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, DOLS, Safeguarding, and other relevant legislation.

    Demonstrable motivational, mentoring and leadership skills.

    Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate with individuals, staff and stakeholders confidently.
