"The expert in anything was once a beginner." (Helen Hayes)

We are looking to appoint an inspiring, enthusiastic and committed individual to join our team of Cover Supervisors to provide cover and support during the absence of a teacher ensuring that the curriculum is maintained for our students in Years 7 to Year 11. The role will also include supporting Behaviour Managers in the isolation room and supporting learners in lessons.

This is an exciting opportunity if you are looking to gain experience of working with young people and would suit applicants who may be considering a future career in teaching. There are many training opportunities available and we would welcome applications from those who can offer enrichment experiences for our young people.

Thurston Community College is a large popular mixed comprehensive school (NOR 1501) with a successful sixth form. 2024 is an exciting time to join us as we have appointed a new Principal and the school had its Ofsted judgement confirmed as "Good". We want all of our staff and students to be proud to work and study here and demonstrate our core values of PRIDE: progress, respect, integrity, determination and empathy.

There is an excellent programme of induction and support for newly appointed staff and you can be assured of a warm welcome from colleagues across the school. Thurston Community College enjoys a rural location just off the A14 and convenient road and rail links to Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich.

If you would like to discuss this post or to visit the school please contact us and visit our website for further information.

If you are excited by this post, its challenges and opportunities; if you relish the prospect of joining our team of committed and excellent staff, we very much look forward to hearing from you.

Completed application forms should be sent to recruitment@thurstoncollege.org

Thurston Community College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointment to this post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check as well as other pre-appointment checks outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education.
