Full Job Description

We are offering opportunities for successful candidates to work from home or office as a Court and Tribunal Officer within Shared Services Revenues Team. The successful candidates will help support and be responsible for a range of technical and financial queries from residents, businesses, agents and solicitors across multiple systems (including NEC, Academy, Information@Work & Civica). Full and comprehensive training will be provided and successful candidates will be supported by a network of employees within the Revenues Team., The main objective for this position will be to support the recovery team and to include the maximisation of collection in respect of Council Tax, handling complex financial queries and supporting our customers to find solutions to difficult issues. You will be expected to appear at court proceedings as directed and provide testimony as required. Court location is in the South East area, St Albans, Stevenage and Hatfield so requirement to be available to attend court and office in person, as required. Monitor payments of fines and fees including appropriate enforcement. You will be expected to manage challenging situations to conclusion, taking full ownership of the outcome and embracing first contact resolution as a standard approach.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Manage business and residential accounts;

  • Liaise with businesses and residents;

  • Undertake housekeeping reports and exercises;

  • Undertake debt chasing and control recovery;

  • Timely and accurate action of client requests;

  • To support operational service delivery to clients;

  • Comply with corporate HR and Health & Safety policies and procedures;

  • Support\mentor colleagues with their development;

  • Ensure professional management standards are adhered to.

  • Manage performance targets and ensure SLA's are maintained in line with audit requirements.

  • Ensure Business Continuity and recovery requirements are adhered to.

  • Ensure all policies and procedures relating to court etiquette are implemented.

  • Maintain legislative changes to ensure knowledge in all relevant service areas.

  • Exercise discretion in the adequate conclusion of a case. In addition, handle information confidentially where required.

  • Attend where necessary Insolvency meetings and/or court groups within the required service area and maintain contact/relationships with outside agencies.

  • Being flexible and adaptable in a changing environment.

    Previous administration, account management experience;

  • Previous debt management, collection experience;

  • Evidence of delivering a first class service to a diverse range of customers from initial point of contact;

  • Experience of gathering, organising and managing information;

  • Being responsive, customer-focused and committed to customer care;

  • Demonstrate a flexible approach to working patterns to meet business peaks and troughs;

  • Good oral & written communication skills and the ability to produce accurate documentation.

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent with minimum of 5 grades of A-C /9-4, including English and Maths
