The opportunity

This is a full time, site-based position where you will be assisting lead engineers in the maintenance and support of Operational Technology (OT) based systems and networks in a highly regulated environment to ensure adherence to the latest standards in all aspects of cyber security. Responsibilities will also include engineering oversight of physical security systems and associated services, including electronic key management systems. You'll be working with a team of safety conscious and highly motivated engineers to uphold company and industry standards.

Situated within the Maintenance Department's Process Computing Group (PCG), this position would suit someone who has worked in a systems/support engineer, technical support or technical maintenance post. Similarly, if you have been involved in the administration and support of SCADA or PLC systems that would complement the role. Pay, benefits and culture

The salary range associated with this role is between £40,069 - £84,892 however the starting salary for this appointment will be within the range of £40,069 - £71,779 and you'll be appointed based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement as well as your existing salary, competence, experience and qualifications.

What you will be doing

As one of our Process Computing Group Engineers, you will:

  • Specify and optimise maintenance on your systems to ensure the required levels of reliability and system safety functions are maintained

  • Identify plant risks and mitigate these through maintenance and investment

  • Provide engineering support to third parties in the maintenance and modification of physical security systems

  • Maintain and develop knowledge for your core systems whilst developing cross-functional skills supporting other PCG systems

  • Provide technical expertise and support for troubleshooting activities, ensuring robust corrective actions are in place to resolve issues and prevent recurrence

  • Support outage (plant Shutdown) preparations and outage delivery

  • Managing modifications to your systems.

    As a minimum, you will need a relevant HNC (or Level 4 equivalent) in Computing, Engineering, Science or a similar, relevant subject. A working understanding of information security principles is paramount, and you will be required to achieve Security Clearance level of National Security Vetting, if not already held. Criteria for Security Vetting requires you to have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 of the last 5 years.


  • Experience supporting Microsoft Windows platforms and MS Office Products in a Microsoft Windows Server environment, as well as the supporting hardware technologies would be highly beneficial. A good understanding of LAN infrastructure and topologies, including installation and support of network equipment would also be advantageous.
