Full Job Description

Base Location: Slough/Reading | We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be reasonably commutable to our Slough / Reading Control Centre, as you will be required to be in the office a few days per week.,

  • You will have full accountability for the Enterprise Control Centre (ECC), ensuring the safe and reliable operation of £300m of private network and IDNO assets

  • With oversight of all switching operations and safety instructions, you will manage and report on network safety issues, lead on the implementation of the Company's Operational Safety Rules and perform the role of Authorising Officer.

  • You will manage the ECC cost centre, with autonomy to make business decisions that impact on the bottom line in order to grow the ECC business. You will be accountable for developing a growth plan for the ECC, including marketing of the ECC as a shop front of the Enterprise business in order to win new private network ownership opportunities.

  • You will be expected to maximise network availability in order to optimise embedded generation output, minimising disruption to customers through careful consideration of outages and mitigation of potential risks

  • You will lead a team to coordinate the commissioning of multi-million-pound networks into the Enterprise Control Centre, influencing the design and energisation of telecoms and RTUs to enable full SCADA connectivity

    Detailed understanding of the UK energy industry and in-depth knowledge of electricity networks. Demonstrated experience in managing operational safety, including leading technical teams or contractors to ensure safety from the system

  • Able to promote and engage on safety at all levels to instil a high performing safety culture. Confident at managing and reporting safety incidents, closing actions and ensuring lessons are learned

  • Experience in managing a Profit & Loss account, with full responsibility for reporting of revenue, expenditure and forecasting variances

  • Proven track record of developing strategies to grow and develop a business entity, with experience of working with customers and stakeholders

  • An understanding of power system principles, including power flows, faults and power quality issues and rectification. Knowledge of the IT systems and platforms that underpin a control room would be advantageous.
