Full Job Description

As a Contractor and Works Controller, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will ensure efficient delivery of works carried out by contractors onsite.

Day-to-day, you will be managing the grounds maintenance contract to include reporting on standards, priorities, and auditing of completed works. You will also deal with the coordination of investigations such as complains and faults.

  • To review contractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) as required and any other Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental activities.

  • Inspecting works, repairs, installations and monitoring progress by performing regular inspections of the work on site and compare completed work with Programme, Drawings, Specifications.

  • Liaising with the client, contractors, local authorities and other external authorities (English Heritage etc), military authorities, contract partnering authorities and managing effectively these relationships and attending meetings as required.

  • Provide support to the Maintenance Team & the Project Team by having input into specifications to ensure the major refurbishment works are undertaken to current legislation, to MoD mandatory requirements and to best practice guides.

  • Where the need is identified, to be trained and appointed as a Competent / Authorised Person (AP) or Responsible Person (RP) in accordance with Appointment rules and procedures.


  • This role is full time working 37 hours per week and involves on call work approximately once a week, every five weeks.

    Essential experience of the Contractor and Works Controller:
  • Good organisational and project management skills

  • Track record of having worked within in a multi-disciplined team environment


  • Qualifications for the Contractor and Works Controller:
  • Hold a current Driving Licence


  • Security Clearance
    The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
