Full Job Description

Acute Medicine at Newham University Hospital offers an exciting opportunity to join a service that is growing to develop new models of working and services that support the needs of our patients attending the hospital with medical issues, as well as being linked through Barts Trust to all specialties. The post includes inpatient care on the Acute Assessment unit (Tayberry ward), Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) and supporting care within the medical take when on-call.

A new wing has just opened (May 2024) that includes new Medical, and Critical care wards as well as new Consultant offices, kitchens and meeting rooms. The Acute Medicine team's office is now in this new wing.

As well as lead roles and responsibilities, fully funded formal leadership training that ranges from short courses to MSc. or MBA will be made available to our substantive appointees through our NHS apprenticeship scheme.

Newham University Hospital, part of the Barts Health NHS Trust Group is looking for 2 full or part time Substantive Consultant Physicians in Acute and General Medicine. These posts are Royal College of Physicians approved.

Newham University Hospital is one of three acute Hospitals within Barts Health. You would be joining a friendly and growing team of Consultant Physicians with a variety of Internal Medicine backgrounds. The post holder will have the option of a 50:50 split with a specialty interest. A specialty interest is not essential and this post is also suitable for acute physicians. We also hope to build on our existing Acute team expertise in the use of ultrasound to enhance acute care (FAMUS, FUSIC and POCUS)., Barts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain's leading healthcare providers.
