Full Job Description

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, as we expand our medical team. The post will be trust wide with elective sessions at our base site hospitals and acute sessions at The Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital (NSECH).
The successful candidate will be involved in the provision of both Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the population of North Tyneside and Northumberland. In addition, they will support the development of the service, supervise junior staff, support administrative and managerial responsibilities, and participate in clinical governance and audit activities.
The role includes a 1:10 on-call commitment, with out of hours support for both Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Acute/ on-call sessions include a resident period between 08:00-20:00 and a non-resident on-call between 20:00- 08:00.
The post is based around a 10PA job plan, plus a 3% on-call supplement.
For more information on the service and trust, please refer to the job description/ information pack., The post will be flexibly time-tabled to meet the demands of the service and the timing of sessions may change as the service develops.
The Job Plan will typically include an average of 8.5 Programmed Activities for Direct Clinical Care duties (Inc. admin and on-call) and 1.5 Programmed Activities for Supporting Professional Activities. A proposed job plan has been outlined in Appendix 1 of the Job Description and will be agreed on commencement of appointment.
Consultant Medical Staff to participate in 7 day working as part of their normal working pattern. Your normal working pattern will be agreed with you locally as part of your job plan and this may consist of shifts of variable working hours including nights and weekends.
The service is on the Northern deanery specialist registrar rotation and contributes to both undergraduate and post-graduate education.
