Consultant Liaison Psychiatrist with an interest in Psycho-Oncology

The post holder will be responsible for the provision of liaison psychiatry and psychiatric medical assessment and treatment of patients of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. This will include the responsibility for the assessment and management of patients who are considered at risk of harming themselves or others., The post holder will be expected to provide:o Clinical leadership of the general liaison psychiatry service to The Royal Marsdeno Undertake direct clinical care of patients referred to the Adult Psychological Support Service with complex physical and psychiatric co-morbidities related to cancer diagnosis or impacting on cancer treatment and patient's quality of lifeo Provide clinical supervision to other team members working at Level 3 (NICE, 2004)o Provide line management to other team memberso Contribute to the weekly multidisciplinary APSS meeting, with particular responsibility for risk and medical issueso Integrated working with the existing Consultants (Medical and ClinicalOncologists and Surgeons) in The Royal Marsden Trusto Work with the patient's responsible clinical teams to assist in the assessment and management of people with suspected or identified mental health needs and helping to manage their clinical needso Provide expertise and advice to support the appropriate use of
the Mental Capacity and Mental Health Act including, where appropriate, completion of assessments to support clinical and legal decision makingo Acting as Responsible Clinician and exercising section 12 powers in respect of the Mental Health Act for inpatientso Take part in or facilitate investigations and debriefing following seriousuntoward incidents related to patients with mental health comorbidities
