The Digital team presents the opportunity to work in a dynamic and transformational arena.

Developments in technology and the changing needs of the NHS mean that Digital services are constantly evolving and migrating to meet demands for innovative solutions and value for money

The Commercial Support Officer is a key administrative role within the Digital team, delivering procurement and contract management support.

The incumbent is required to work closely with service leads to ensure compliance with the relevant governance and contractual processes and in doing so, provides the opportunity to acquire expert knowledge in procurement and an understanding of the NHS digital landscape and service requirements across Primary Care.

In addition, the role builds strong relationships and rapport with suppliers, giving further opportunity to develop negotiating skills, confidence in communication and the ability to draft robust contracts.

The role provides flexible working arrangements and can be carried out either office based or working from home.

Main duties of the job

Support service leads in the procurement of new services. Candidates would ideally have an understanding of Public Contract Regulations and NHS procurement processes.

Provide robust contract management.

  • Ability to maintain an accurate contract register - requires a diligent and methodical approach

  • Manage contract documentation through the required governance and approval processes - ability to collate and track a large volume of information

  • Review contracts - requires attention to detail and ability to understand inherent contract risks

  • Ensure contracts are fully completed and signed

  • Ensure all contracts and supporting documentation are obtained and archived

  • Provide advice and guidance to colleagues


  • Support service reviews - gathering information, providing ideas on solutions/options, providing input to Executive

    Additional Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week
