Are you a Clinical Nurse Specialist who would like the opportunity to lead and manage a pro-active and enthusiastic palliative care nursing team?
We are looking for an experienced and passionate nurse to lead a well-established and highly motivated team. We would welcome someone who has well developed assessment and leadership skills, with extensive experience to plan and provide skilled, competent care to meet patient needs, an excellent communicator who cares about making a difference to the quality of life for patients with life limiting illness. We would welcome applicants that have well developed transferable skills and an appetite to build their expertise within the speciality of palliative care.
This 12 month fixed term post offers the opportunity to lead a highly motivated and dynamic team which is committed to providing specialist palliative care. We are committed to ensuring timely and prudent care for all patients with palliative care needs. Working in a team of Palliative Care Consultants, Medical Staff, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Healthcare Support Workers/Complimentary Therapists and AHPs, you would be contributing to the development and delivery of this vital service.
You would initially be based in The Grange University Hospital but will have many opportunities to work throughout the 4 hospitals within the secondary care service in ABUHB. This will include the Grange University Hospital, Nevill Hall Hospital, Royal Gwent Hospital and Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr.

Main duties of the job
This individual will:
+ Effectively manage their own caseload of palliative care patients in secondary care, Monday to Friday 9-5pm and on a rotation for weekends
+ Be responsible for day to day management and leadership of the palliative care nursing team in the allocated base.
+ Be responsible for monitoring and auditing the service and promoting effective working links with both NHS and voluntary teams.
+ Be required to be involved in service development in line with the quality statement for Palliative and End of Life care in Wales.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
