Full Job Description

This is a unique opportunity to undertake a Medical Rotation Programme for 1 year with a view to extend. You will have the opportunity to work in six different Medical areas across the Trust with up to 1 month of supernumerary work during which time, system orientation will be provided. You will be supervised by an accredited Consultant ensuring full training and opportunities to develop skills & knowledge.

During this programme, the clinician will have dedicated time to accomplish

- ALS within the first year

- Audits

- Maintain Paper Portfolio/ E portfolio

- Tailored protected teaching programme approved by the Clinical Education Director

There will be mentorship to help you develop and build your confidence and adjustment into your teams.,

  • To provide inpatient and outpatient support to the clinical speciality team.

  • Ward rounds

  • Clinical supervision of juniors

  • Undertaking Audits and support Departmental Research


  • The appointee will be responsible for communication and liaison with other medical and service departments within the hospital and with general practitioners and other agencies, such as district nursing and Social Services.

    The appointee will be expected to cover for absence of colleagues (including on call cover) at short notice, e.g. sickness. Cover outside the Rota requiring extra hours of work will be paid as additional work at nationally agreed rates and will be coordinated to be compliant with the relevant legislation.

    It is expected that the post holder will play an active part in the training of junior medical staff. He/she will also be expected to supervise, educate and assist medical students.

    The post holder should take an active part in clinical audit, journal club and departmental teaching sessions. Regular appraisals will occur and the post holder will be expected to take part in CPD.

    Essential
  • MBBS or equivalent

  • MRCP

  • Full GMC Registration with licence to practice

  • ALS Certification

  • Broad clinical experience within General Internal Medicine

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the NHS, Caring attitude to patients

  • Excellent inter-personal qualities

  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively

  • Ability to work within a multi-professional and multi-disciplinary framework

  • Good organisational skills

  • Ability to motivate and support staff of all disciplines

  • Excellent personal time and management skills
