Full Job Description

The successful candidate will be involved in our Acute Oncology Service, running clinics and attending ward visits alongside our AOS Nursing Team. There will also be opportunity to attend oncology outpatient clinics (including systemic anticancer treatment delivery for relevant specialities). Proven experience and the ability to assess and manage all acute oncology emergencies is therefore essential.
The fellow would have the opportunity to develop the role according to their educational needs and interests either through research, delivery of education or management or leadership skills development.
This post would be suitable for doctors who have completed foundation year 1 & 2 training (or equivalent) and are seeking further experience in Oncology.
This post would also be suitable for doctors who are:
+ wishing to pursue a career in Oncology
+ seeking NHS experience, + Multidisciplinary team working is a key component of the working in the department
+ To prescribe chemotherapy and manage treatment related complications
+ New patient assessment/ Ward visits/ Acute Oncology Service support
+ To provide Medical cover to the Chemotherapy Day Unit
+ To provide cover for chemotherapy review clinics when required
+ To provide daily Acute Oncology assessment clinic
+ Ward rounds/supporting the nursing team with in-patient care
+ Undergraduate/Postgraduate/Nursing teaching
+ Participation in clinical trials
+ In addition to the above the post-holder will be expected to attend the relevant MDTs within the area of interest that they develop, support the research team in clinical trial accrual.
+ To undertake other duties as appropriate for a Clinical Fellow grade in Oncology not otherwise specified

The post holder would be expected to be available for such irregular commitments outside normally rostered duties as are essential for continuity of patient care.

All new staff will be subject to a probationary period covering their first six months in post.
