Full Job Description

Our clinical coding team is expanding, transforming working practices and creating progressive opportunities and invites you to explore an opportunity to join us as a Clinical Coding Clerk

You will hold a unique position helping with facilitating notes/documentation for coding department. You will be required to work under your own direction and be able to assist with queries from the coding team and other stakeholders. Must have a flexible approach, as the role will continue to be developed.

  • First point of contact for all Admin Support for Clinical Coding Team

  • Provide administration support for coding team cross sites

  • Investigating list to facilitate coding deadlines.

  • To plan, manage and prioritise own workload to meet timescales and agreed deadlines under guidance from the line manager.

    All new staff will be subject to a probationary period covering their first six months in post. Travel between hospital sites may be required.

  • To display professionalism by means of prompt and high quality communications (i.e. letters, emails and telephone conversations).

  • To be confident engaging with staff at all levels within the Trust, adjusting communication style, as appropriate, to the needs of the audience.

  • To ensure data accuracy and confidentiality is maintained at all times.

  • Update reports on a daily basis.

  • Deal with queries raised by coders and other healthcare professionals both internal and external.

  • To provide administrative support for Clinical Coding Business Group/Team.

  • To locate and collect any case-notes required by the clinical coding team within the Hospital.

  • To liaise with external stakeholders (Spires, Harpenden) / locate paperwork outside the trust, arrange for coding purpose.

  • To request case-notes on a daily basis from the Medical Records Library.

  • To ensure all case-notes are tracked via the tracking system correctly in and out from various locations in the Hospital within a timely manner
