Full Job Description

  • Answering telephones: take incoming calls, ascertain query, deal with (if appropriate) or forward call.

  • General office duties (dealing with incoming post and other documents, printing/photocopying/scanning requests, running errands for Members of Chambers, organising the distribution of papers to etc.).

  • Updating electronic records and files with full detail and accuracy (training of Chambers' systems will be given).

  • Assisting members of chambers with preparation of documents/typing on occasional basis.

  • Taking direction and instruction from senior members of staff.

  • Occasionally delivery of urgent documents and bundles to Court


  • Administration Tasks (includes Reception duties)
  • Assisting with the preparation of Directory submissions (research & preparation of reference schedules etc.).

  • Assisting with pupillage recruitment administration.

  • Mini-pupillage administration.

  • Assisting with marketing initiatives and the organisation of seminars/events, including costings, invitations, mailshots, RSVP lists, catering etc.)

  • Travel arrangements/accommodation.

  • Website and social media administration (including updating profiles, uploading news items and articles etc.).

  • Assisting with facilities (includes monitoring refreshment and stationery stock levels) and premises management.

  • Acting as 'first contact' on Reception, greeting all visitors and deliveries.

  • Co-ordinating conference room allocation and preparing refreshments when requested.

  • Ensuring reception areas and conference rooms are kept clear and presentable.

    Warm and welcoming personality - excellent at social interaction.

  • Strong IT skills and a strong grasp of grammar and punctuation.

  • Ability to prioritise and multi-task.

  • Remaining calm under pressure.

  • Flexibility over hours when required.
