Full Job Description

We are in the process of optimising our claims function through a number of projects and initiatives with our aim to continuously evolve our claims service so that our special claim's philosophy continues to resonate and inspire our customers, trading partners and colleagues that we work with and hope to work with in the future.
How we handle claims distinguishes us from our peers and underpins our brand promise that "we see the people behind the policy".
The Role
As a Claims Business Analyst you'll help drive and shape business processes and best practises as part of our claims optimisation programme.
You will work with claims colleagues across our Group and Business Units on a number of different initiatives and will play an important part in reviewing and analysing data and developing our claims processes, guidelines and governance procedures.
We're looking for someone with excellent interpersonal skills who has the ability to prioritise. You will need to have a pragmatic approach to problem solving and be able to communicate the outcomes to a wide audience.
What you'll be doing:

  • Define and document claims requirements across a number of projects and initiatives

  • Reviewing and assessing data flows, data capture and data information across claims departments

  • Develop strong working relationships across the claims function and work closely with key stakeholders to understand the current ways of workings

  • Develop and document the "as is" and "to be" processes and assist in steering the business through any changes

  • Articulate complexity in simple terms to facilitate quick understanding and decision making from key stakeholders

  • Produce high quality deliverables such as requirements specifications, process maps, and stakeholder presentations

  • Support the successful delivery of the claims optimisation projects and initiatives

Proven experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in claims process improvement

  • Strong understanding of business processes and organisational structures

  • Experience of process design, process improvement, work flow and process map development

  • Experience and understanding of claim life cycle processes and claims data capture would be beneficial

  • Experience of using analytical techniques to interpret data and produce meaningful management information including trend analysis

  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Formal Business Analysis qualifications would be beneficial

  • Good organisational and communication skills.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality, service and defining best practice.

    About Hiscox

  • As an international specialist insurer we are far removed from the world of mass market insurance products. Instead we are selective and focus on our key areas of expertise and strength - all of which is underpinned by a culture that encourages us to challenge convention and always look for a better way of doing things.
We insure the unique and the interesting. And we search for the same when it comes to talented people. Hiscox is full of smart, reliable human beings that look out for customers and each other. We believe in doing the right thing, making good and rebuilding when things go wrong. Everyone is encouraged to think creatively, challenge the status quo and look for solutions.
Scratch beneath the surface and you will find a business that is solid, but slightly contrary. We like to do things differently and constantly seek to evolve. We might have been around for a long time (our roots go back to 1901), but we are young in many ways, ambitious and going places.
Some people might say insurance is dull, but life at Hiscox is anything but. If that sounds good to you, get in touch.
    Diversity and Hybrid working
At Hiscox we care about our people. We hire the best people for the job and we're committed to diversity and creating a truly inclusive culture, which we believe drives success.
We have also learned over the past few years that working life doesn't always have to be in the office, and now it is safe to do so we have introduced hybrid working to encourage a healthy work life balance.
This hybrid working model is set by the team rather than the business to enable you to manage your own personal work-life balance. We see it as the best of both worlds; structure and sociability on one hand, and independence and flexibility on the other.
