Ty Caredig Ltd are looking for someone who can demonstrate a wide range of experience, be focused on excellent care delivery, and wants to take on the responsibility for the implementation and monitoring of the organisations policies and procedures in line with relevant legislation including meeting and or exceeding the standards set out by the Social Services & Well Being Act (Wales) 2014. The Regulation and Inspection of Social Care Act (2016) and any subsequent updates.

Ty Caredig Ltd, residential homes have been delivering an outstanding integrated model of education, therapy and therapeutic care to children & young people who present a range of emotional, complex interpersonal behavioural needs, complex social difficulties because of adverse childhood experiences. The home will provide long-term residential care for the children & young people who are looked after. The underpinning philosophy of our Children and Young Peoples home's is to support children/young people through a range of needs such as early childhood trauma, attachment disorders, challenging behaviours and those who have been subject to various placement breakdowns to enable them to come to terms with their past and build on the skills needed to achieve the best possible outcomes.

The new residential home will support children and young people with complex needs and behaviours in a therapeutic environment. The company is committed to developing a reputation for transparent practice that meets the needs of children and young people, and a new dynamic way of delivering care and support to vulnerable young people.

The successful applicant must be able to develop positive relationships with external stakeholders, while also ensuring the Home has the highest possible level of occupancy by utilising links with the local community.

You will lead and motivate a team to deliver high and consistent standards of care and support for the young people who currently live in the home, ensuring they are kept safe, that you advocate strongly for them, and their voices shine through everything we do.

You will need a real eye for detail - understanding that our absolute commitment to the Safeguarding of our children and young people and the Quality of our service are the top priorities of Ty Caredig Ltd.

You will be able to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the statutory and regulatory environment for registered Residential Children's & Young People's Homes with CIW.

As a manager you will set the operational direction and organize the effective running of the service provision to meet Ty Caredig's statement of purpose. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of running the home, for medium to long-term planned placements to ensure young people are supported and prepared to move on to independent living.

A bit about the role

The children & young people's care will involve professional practice that is sensitive to their trauma history. Our model will provide an environment where they will receive positive experiences of reliable, consistent care and support through providing specific and structured care, with very clear consistent boundaries.

You will be the "Registered Manager" for the home as specified in the Children's Homes Regulations 2001 and required to fulfil the obligations set out in the National Minimum Standards for Children's Home 2002

We will provide specialist learning, training, and Supervision to enhance your professional development.

General Responsibilities

Registered Managers must ensure the delivery of high-quality care in accordance with individuals holistic needs and multi-disciplinary teams' decisions and recognized best practice, implementing improvements where identified. To assist with all duties in connection with the safe day-to-day running of the home. Working with the staff team to implement Ty Caredig Ltd policies and processes to ensure the highest quality of care is delivered to the children/young people within our care. To work wherever requested in carrying out the above and to always comply with the policies and procedures of TY Caredig Ltd.

Main duties

1. To contribute to the Care Planning process of children cared for Ty Caredig Ltd by:

  • Attending and preparing for Childrens and Young Peoples conferences, reviews, planning, core group and other meetings in connection with children/young people placed with Ty Caredig Ltd.

  • Be accountable for care service delivery plans and corresponding documentation, making sure care plans, management plans, risk assessments and other relevant paperwork's are all in place and reviewed as required.

  • Guiding and supporting staff in maintaining children and young people's records accurately and within agreed timescales.

  • Be a positive role model to all staff and children/young people ensuring that professional and work boundaries are always adhered to.


  • 2. Responsible for regular staff supervision and appraisals.

    3. To take overall responsibility for ensuring staff Rota's are produced in a timely fashion and there are always sufficient staff available with the correct skills, gender mix and experience for supporting our individuals and their planned activities. Ensure the highest level of care is being delivered and the service provided exceeds National Minimum Standards. Promote positive teamwork and work closely with colleagues as well as other professionals.

    4. Being able to work from your own initiative is important to showing strong leadership in a Senior role to promote positive teamwork and work closely with colleagues as well as other professionals.

    5. To assist Residential Support Workers in developing clear care plans for the children and young people in our care.

    6. Lead staff to support children and young people retain the highest level of independence possible and support them to take appropriate control and responsibility for their own lives and independence.

    7. Liaise with the Responsible Individual and other members of the senior management team as appropriate providing regular reports about key areas of performance e.g., quality and finance etc.

    8. Contributing to the creation of an environment in which children and young people are afforded high material standards in relation to their physical needs. In so doing you will consider their individual needs taking into account their ability, gender, ethnicity, religious and cultural background, building on the children/young person's strengths, interests, and aspirations.

    9. Contributing to the creation and maintenance of effective communication systems within the children and young people's home and between other parts of the organization, outside agencies and children's families (when this is in accordance with the child's care plan).

    10. To maintain all records in accordance with company policy, regulations, and statutory requirements, to have excellent understanding and working knowledge of the organisations health and safety guidelines and that health and safety standards are met.

    11. To maintain and respect the requirement for absolute confidentiality in relation to the performance of all your duties and the information that you glean from there.

    12. To support the staff team to develop an understanding of the interests and hobbies of the children/young people, to ensure that children/young people receive all the necessary advice, support, and regular health checks to maintain their physical health and well-being. To promote nutrition, relaxation, exercise, and a healthy lifestyle.

    13. To work in a safe way, not putting your own or another member of staff's health or safety at work at risk.

    14. To ensure the Company's commitment to the safeguarding of children and young people is upheld and any areas of concern are reported immediately to the appropriate person.

    15. To closely monitor and correctly record all absences from work due to sickness, or for any other reasons, to ensure all staff timesheets are submitted correctly for salary purposes.

    16. To declare any other work (paid or voluntary) or activity that may lead to a conflict of interest.

    17. To inform your supervisor as soon as possible of any intended absence from work due to sickness, or for any other reason.

    Pay: £41,000.00-£43,000.00 per year

    Ty Caredig Ltd are seeking an experienced, passionate Registered Residential Manager for a Childrens & Young Peoples home, you will need to possess a QCF Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services (or equivalent qualification) as recognised by Social Care Wales to meet the standards required to register as a Children & Young people's residential care home manager, with at least 2 years' experience in a similar role., Residential Childcare: 2 years (preferred)
