We have an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Business Support Officer to join the Strategic Support Team within the Children & Families Service.

As a Business Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operations of our business processes.

The Strategic Support Team supports the budgets, finance processes and payments of various services within Children & Families.

We are a very busy team and there is a constant stream of finance-based work that comes in for us to complete.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages, and experience of learning new IT systems.

  • Experience of working in an office environment.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Ability to create, maintain and enhance productive working relationships with customers, colleagues, line mangers, team members and a variety of people at all levels internal and external to the organisation.


  • Ability to listen, gather information and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with a range of people both internal and external to the organisation.


  • Ability to demonstrate tact and maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrate commitment, enthusiasm, and ability to be adaptable.

  • Level 2 qualification according to National Qualifications framework e.g. 5 GCSE grades A - C including maths and English. NVQ2, BTEC, First Diplomas and Certificates or equivalent qualifications or experience, or willing to work towards this level.


  • Attention to detail and quality data inputting is key in this role for the successful candidate. You will also have excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills, be motivated to work under pressure and in a confidential manner.

    You should have experience of working in a busy office environment with a good understanding of office processes and procedures, strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

    The postholder will work a hybrid working pattern but must be available to work 3 days in the office per week.

    If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
