Full Job Description

Are you able to provide specialist therapy assessment and treatment for a defined caseload of patients within St Andrews Therapy Department, delivering a high standard of care and maintain high professional standards?

Can you assess and treat own caseload of patients as part of Multi-disciplinary Team and provide Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy in a specialist Burns and Plastic Surgery Centre, contributing to service development and participates in Clinical Audit and research?

St Andrews is a busy and dynamic trauma unit where there are excellent opportunities to work within a multi-disciplinary team. We have structured supervision and appraisal systems, monthly audit and training days, incorporating regular journal clubs.

To perform specialist therapeutic assessments of patients with diverse plastic surgery needs or burns, involving complex physical and psychological and social problems.

To provide diagnosis, advice, formulate treatment plans and deliver individualised treatment programmes.

To be responsible for own caseload and to delegate work to other therapists, assistants, and students.

To be responsible for the treatment of patients undergoing plastic surgery or burn care in both in-patient and outpatient settings, without direct supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular training, clinical reasoning sessions and peer review. Access to advice and support from a senior therapist is available if required but work is not routinely evaluated.
Undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
